CROSSWORD KING

Name : C. N. Umamaheshwar (Raju)

Location : Nairobi, Kenya (East Africa)

Age : 68, student of SIES High School, 1944-1955)

I do all types of crosswords but my forte' is the cryptic ones. I not only solve but also collect all solved and unsolved crosswords. My collections have run into hundreds of thousands and I am already featured in the Limca Book of Records of India which records achievements of unusual nature and feats by Indians anywhere in the world. I quote below the Entry details in the Book of 2007 edition. Page:58 Limca Book of Records-2007 under ''The Human Story'' Crossword buff Raju Umamaheswar started solving easy crosswords when he was in college in Mumbai. Then he moved to more difficult ones including Cryptic crossword puzzles to solve when he has time, so he has a vast number of unsolved ones kept away for a rainy day! From 1992, till June 2006, he has solved 129,462 puzzles. He has accumulated about 400,000 +unsolved crosswords. He has some 30,000 unsolved puzzles on CDs. He solves the crosswords while travelling by bus, train, or plane, on holidays, early mornings and late nights.... Thanks to this hobby,I have made several friends across the globe, most of whom he has never met except of course on the Internet.'' I have been attempting to get an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the past 11years and unfortunately, they have declined my entry on grounds that there are no records to compare me with. All the more reasons that they should put in my name, isn't it, since I will be opening a new avenue. Are there any such records in the world? I also collect all memorabilia relating to crosswords as I have several reference books( which I only look up in case of any doubt) , computerised crosswords, cds and the world's largest and longest crosswords.

The crosswords hobby has got me a household recognition in Kenya.
